Maybe yes, but the release notes say that a disk drive firmware upgrade is not supported and that WEBES is not supported with ABM either - so it is only useful for some emergency management tasks (in my opinion).

EV EVA 8.1

I called support for a disk replacement, and they let me know that the 09006000 firmware for the 4400 was out. In the notes for that firmware release it says that the CV EVA level needs to be at 8.1. We're at 8.00.01.080529 right now, and I just plain can't find where to get the newer version of CommandView. Any tips on where to find it?

Per the upgrade docs, I need 8.02 for my server-based CV EVA. However, I still can't find any upgrade packages for that. I see the Product page:

http://h18006.www1.hp.com/products/storage/software/cmdvieweva/index.html

But I don't know what click path from there will get me to an updater for my existing 8.0 install.

Things have gotten a little confusing with this release, let me explain it like I explained it yesterday to one of our technicians:

Command View 8.1 is a version designed to run ON the EVA4400 management module, it's loaded on a local flash memory and you access it through the management module IP.
This is named Array Based Management and let's you manage the EVA4400 directly without needing a Windows server where to install Command View.

Command View 8.1 has some limitations and cannot fully replace Command View 8.02, but it can be enough for many people that it's not going to use Continous Access or other advanced features.

Management module firmware 0001.1000 contains Command View 8 also (That's why the package mmp-0001.1000-000117R.pkg is bigger than before). Once you install that, you'll have Command View 8.1 on the port 2372 and the WOCP on port 2373.

XCS 09006000 is compatible with management firmware 0001.0020 (no CV 8.1), and 0001.1000 (includes CV 8.1). The EVA can be managed from Command View 8.02 as always, CV 8.1 is an alternative, not a substitute.

It sounds like CV8.1 won't be a good fit for our environment. Nice to know!

But I still need (I think) to find out how to update my CV from 8.00 to 8.02.

Hi

You just need to download the 8.0.2 patch which you can get from here:

http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/SoftwareDescription.jsp?lang=en&cc=us&prodTypeId=12169&prodSeriesId=471497&prodNameId=3664268&swEnvOID=1005&swLang=13&mode=2&taskId=135&swItem=co-64828-1

And then run it. Your CV will be updated. Note you MUST have CV8.0 installed first. There is no need to put on CV8.0.1 as .2 contains all the patches etc of .1

Mark...
