Hi,

I need to add 10 disks to my EVA.
What is the best way to do this in terms of leveling - add one at a time or all together?

thanks

You can add all at once.

When you originally insert the new drives, do them one at a time, waiting 30 seconds between drive insertions into the shelf. Then when the new drives show up in UNGROUPED, update their firmware. Then GROUP them all at once.

Best practice to optimize availability when adding disks to an array:
• Set add disk setting to Manual.
• Add disks one at a time, following the “wait 60 seconds” rule between disks.
• Distribute disks vertically and evenly as possible to all the shelves.
• Unless otherwise indicated, add new disks to existing Disk Groups. Use the HP StorageWorks Command View add multiple disks command (see command line interface [CLI] commands).
• Add disks in groups of eight.
• For growing existing applications, if the operating system supports Vdisk growth, increase Vdisk size. Otherwise, use a software volume manager to add new Vdisks to applications.

Best practice to add capacity: Avoid replacing existing disks with larger capacity disks. Either retain the old disks in the system or create a new Disk Group and migrate the existing data.
