topic How to monitor VA7400 in Disk Enclosures

Hi,

I need some input on how to automatically monitor a VA7400. Is there anyway to send SNMP traps through Command View or do I have to parse the logfiles. It's a pure Win2k environment. Any sugesstions?

Thanks,

/Jan-Ingvar

CommandView will send SNMP traps. How to set it up is in the documentation.

Good Luck

Hi Vincent,

I must be blind, I can't find anything in the Commandview documentation (1.03) on how to configure it to send SNMP traps. Is it in the online documentation for CV for HP-UX, I'm running CV on Windows 2000 so that may be the reason for not finding it.

/Jan-Ingvar

You asked for it... everything you every wanted to know about CommandView and SNMP, but were afraid to ask... See attached zip file for the docs.

Good luck!

Oh - don't forget to set SNMPTRAP_DEST in the config files. You have to tell it where to send the traps!

I can't remember if it goes in one of the files in c:\sanmgr\commandview\client\config or in server\config, you you will have to look for the SNMPTRAP_DEST in the config files there and modify it. Sorry - I'm not able to access a CommandView station from where I am today or I would check for you.

Here's a link to the latest config guide for CV SDM:
http://h200002.www2.hp.com/bc/docs/support/SupportManual/lpg28818/lpg28818.pdf

Good luck!
