EVA replication over iSCSI?

All,

Hoping you good people on the forum can confirm whether Continuous Access/EVA replication will work over iSCSI? If a model matters, I'm thinking EVA4400 to EVA4000.

Thanks in advance,

Jason

CA-EVA requires a Fibre Channel fabric between both EVAs. The fabric _can_ be extended with FCIP (FC over IP), but iSCSI is not an extension technology - think of it as a "client/server" protocol.

Simply put... the EVA's don't talk to each other over a LAN (except in the case of a FCiP scenario as mentioned)

Steven

Hello,
as posted above, CA requires FC SAN for replication. Eva could be used as iSCSI storage, but no replication available.
From HP portfolio you can use newest LeftHand devices - (P4000 G2) with iScsi replication...

Jan
Thank you all for your excellent responses. You've answered my main question and also given me a suitable solution in the MPX200 (thanks Sivaramakrishna).

Cheers!

Jason
CA/EVA replicates only over FC (not iSCSI) but FC fabrics can be extended with the MPX200 which also provides iSCSI connectivity as well as other benefits.
