Hello,

I would like to know how, if possible, to backup all the data of an MSA2000? I mean all its configuration, vdisks, volumes, mappings and everything?

For example, if my MSA2000 encounters a hardware problem, and i want to copy everything to a newer MSA, what should i do?

Thanks so much for you advices in advance

Regards

Before replacing hardware or changing the configuration of an MSA 2000 array you can make a backup copy of the current configuration file:
1. Log into the SMU
2. Select Manage → Utilities → Configuration Utilities → Save Config File
3. Click the Save Configuration File button
4. You will be prompted to save the configuration file to your computer

About the data you can restore it from the backup to the New MSA via different backup and restore methods.

Unfortunately you can do this with the MSA2000G1 only, but not with G2 to G4.

No, there isn't.

However, if you gather the Store.log from HP P2000 then I can or HP Technical Support can help you further with information you require from it.

Store.log contains all the information of the HP P2000 Configuration, Event Details Etc. You can gather the same from Tools > Save Logs > Enter Required Details > Click Save/Generate Logs.

Not sure, where did you MSA P2000 G3 on this storage array!

As I mentioned earlier you can capture Configuration File for this HP MSA G1.

Moreover, I do recommend to keep the store.log file just for the sake of it.

You can save logs from HP MSA G1 by following below steps:
To download logs from the SMU:
1. Using your web browser connect to the SMU
2. Click Utilities → debug utilities → save logs to file
3. Fill in the name, address, and phone number fields
4. Select the types of logs you want to download (Select All)
5. When the logs have finished parsing click Download Selected Logs to File (takes 5-10mins)
6. Click Save to save the log files to your workstation
Change name
