DiskArray - Fibrechannel - 2 Server

Hello,

we have a System with 2 HP Server and 1 DHP DiskArray.

Both Servers are connected with Fibrechannel to the DiskArray.

On the Servers we run Ubuntu Linux in the newest Version.

The home directories of all users are mapped on the DiskArray.

Our proplem is:

If the system is running a few time the server recognise "I/O Errors" on the DiskArray.

I think this problem results from a access of both servers on the same file on the DiskArray at the same time.

Have anyone a solution for such problems?

Hello,

yes that would be expected if both servers access the same LUN and you use a file system that does not support clustering.

What file system is it on the shared home directories?
More specifically, which HP servers (and FC HBA) and what type of DiskArray are you using?

The Server are HP ProLiant DL580 G5 and the DiskArrays is a HP StorageWorks MSA2012fc.

On the DiskArray is a ext3 filesystem.

Can you give me some examples for file system that support clustering?

Or do you know a article or some internet side which explains how such clustering file system works.

Hi, some examples:

CSV (Windows)

Lustre

GPFS
VMFS

it needs to support more than one host accessing the same LUN.

This is the think I searching for.
Does anyone have experience with such filesystems.

Are there some thinks which I have to know before I format the diskarray with such filesystems.

Or are there some problems if I use a clustered filesystems.
