HP will not support running a tape drive off any NetRAID card. This can cause many different issues.

If you have not configured the DAT24i on the NetRAID Card, ie it shows up as ready, then yes you can just disconnect it and connect it to the embedded controller on the server.

DKT
HP

in my server works 3 Harddisks (ID 0,1,3) with 9GB and a DAT24i (ID 2) - all devices on the Netraid 1Si. I installed SCO OpenServer 5.0.4 without any problems - now told me a friend, that the streamer should be connected to another host-controller then the raid.
I don't want to reconfigure my hole hard- and software so i want to know, what can be happend when Harddisks and DAT connecte to raid-controller.

you should be able to pull the DAT drive from the chain and connect it up to a different HBA because the tape drive is not part of the disk-config stored in in the NetRaid card. Only your tape config in SCO needs to be modified then.
