Hello,

I have three rp2470 servers and one SC10 disk array enclosure.already i have two nodes clusters i.e two rp2470 configured for MC/SG clusters i would like to add a third node in cluster and use the existing Sc10 enclosure for storage ,is it possible to connect Sc10 via Y cable ,if so can anyone let me know the details .

thanks/regards,
Aliasgar.

Hello,

Normal cables will do. However, you will lose redundancy, since the 3 hosts would connect only using a single connection to the SC10. You will leave one connection on one BCC on the SC10 empty. See the attached diagram for details.

HTH,
Vince

Hi Vincent,

have you tried with this config ,i.e is it a working solution .if it is not having redunancy there will a single point of failure in MC/SG enviroment.
Vincent's diagram is very good.

For other choices, I'm afraid that it would require you to replace the SC10 with something Fibre Channel, such as FC10 (now discontinued like the SC10) or DS2405, or a Virtual Array (VA7100). Add a FC switch and you can share these from any number of hosts.

Fibre Channel is much better at sharing things than SCSI is.

Good luck!
