You should see the Free space under Disk 1 dependiong on how your server is partitioned. By the document I have attached early will show you how NT sees the extra space.

With the array configuration utility you can add extra physical HDDs to an existing array. Am I right in asumming that disk administrator will see this extra logical space as 'Free Space' in NT4.

Thanks for the reply.
What actually happens if you select the expand an existing array option. ??
IS the new disk space seen by NT as Free Space on DISK 0 in disk administrator ??

Is there a document for Capacity Extension? I have added one physical drive using the Array Configuration Utility. Instead of selecting "Create a New Logical Drive", I selected "Extend an Existing Logical Drive". I do not see the Free Space in Disk Administrator. Where did the disk space go?

I have added a disk drive to my array as per the Array Extension documentation. When I try to add the Free Space in Disk administrator, I get the following error: "The disk containing one of the free spaces you have chosen is not able to accept any more partitions". I already have 4 partitions on disk 0. Should I have added the new drive as a New Logical drive? Can I remove the new drive via Array Configuration Utility with out losing any data or damaging the Array?

You documentation looks good, but the only thing that strikes me, is expanding by volume set, because failure in any part of a volume set crashes the whole set. What other possibility do I have to use the new added space for NT??
