topic Expanding a RAID1 array in Disk Enclosures

Hello,
I currently have 2 x 18.2 Ultra2SCSI drives configures as a RAID1 array on a 431 Smart controller, firmware rev - 1.18A.
I would like to replace these drives with 2 x 36GB drives. Can somebody recommend a plan for this please? Is it possible to install the new drives alongside the existing drives, copy the data across and then remove the old drives. Or can I expand the existing array with the new disks?
Thanks for any suggestions,
Mat

Hi,

I think the easier way is to replaced one of them and let the rebuild finishes then replace the other one and when the rebuild finishes you can extension the raid disks so you get the full 36Gb.

I hope it will help you.

What Cesar Vieira is true except on post you will have to run the array config and create a 2nd logical drive since that controller does not support logical drive expansion.
