We connected to our new va7410 with a terminal emulator to an RS-232 port on one of the controllers as the installation guide suggested. When we started to use the commands in the manual to configure the array such as dsp, mgr,the commands did not work. We are not using CommandView. Does anyone have a command summary that will work on just the controller without commandview?

example: manual states to use
"dsp -c 1" to view the port behavior setting for controller 1. We found that it requires "dsp -c m/c1" instead. We never could figure out the "mgr" command.

rb

Rick,

Some older versions of firmware require you to use the older command set at the RS-232 port. The original commands all used "VFP" to begin the command.

"vfpdsp -c1" instead of "dsp -c 1"

The same commands work just include the "vfp" prefix. You may also want to check the firmware levels on your array, as the newer firmware provides some valuable fixes.

Best Regards,

Chris
The manuals shipped with the VA contain man pages for all the vfp commands. You should RTFM. The "help" commmand is also very good.

I've noticed that the vfp commands are very literal, and use a very stupid command processor... ie: it will choke if you leave out things like spaces, ie: "dsp -c 1" and "dsp -c1" are not the same.
