Hi Juergen;

Yes, that is possible.

However, each controller uses a different driver.

You will have to take that into consideration when making the change, and that all depends on the OS you are running.

jb

Hi jb,
thanks very much for your reply. It was really possible to move the raid from the 431 to the 5i controller.
Unfortunately it was not possible to move the other raid from 5i to 431. Drive Array Diagnosis gives me the following error message:
An unsupported drive rearrangement was attempted.
Drive at Port 1, ID0 indicates it should be located at Port 2, ID0.

Is there a way to reassign the drives to the new port?

Thanks in advance,
Juergen
Hello again;

You should be able to move the drives from one controller to another.

If the 5i was previously configured it might need clearing to accept the "new" array from the 431.

Try running a system erase on the 5i server with no hard-drives attached in order to clear the server and array controller information without affecting the data on your hard drives.

Then reattach the drives and reboot.

The controller should pick up the information from the RAID5 set and reinitialize correctly.

Cheers,

Janine
