topic Smart Array 5300 - upgrading disks in Disk Enclosures

Hello,

I have just taken over running of a smart array 5300 controller which manages a RAID 5 + 1 set of 9g disks. This is also mirrored.

Due to lack of space I have to upgrade all the disks to 36g.

(The server runs w2k (sp3) and exchange 2000)

Is is best to break the mirror and remove one set of disks and create a new array. Or remove all the disks in one go and recreate the setup on the new disks.

If I have removed all the disks and then created a new array but the restore fails how easy is it to roll back to the original set-up?

Any help or suggestions will be much appreciated.

thanks
