one answer is that if youset to record only it records at 2x
if i set at test and record i can select 1x and it records at 1x
and it stopped thebuffer underun

how can I force the 7500e to write at 1x
even when I change the setting to 1x
it records at 2x

Hello,

Is there any particular reason you want to write at 1x? If you're having problems of some type, there might be a better answer than writing at 1x. . .
sometimes i get a buffer underun and another error even after doing all the recommended
scan disk, defrag, closing all items except
explorer and systray and disabling my virus checker, screensaver, and power managment

so i would like to try 1x

Ah, the infamous buffer underrun. I doubt that 1x would solve your problem since the error has more to do with the speed of data being transferred from the buffer to the cd-writer than the speed the writer is writing data to the cd-r. Has the drive always had this problem, or is it a fairly recent development? Also, have you made sure that there are no background applications running by ending task on them? What OS are you using?
