What is your OS? If it's 98 you'll find this here:

click:start > settings > control panel > system > device manager > ...here you'll find your drives categorically, and click on each to open you'll find a page with a box to change drive letter assigments. This was an automatic default setting, I believe, so as not to interfere with more common components in a normal windows environment. It might also be locations available in a raid structure still on file. Is this now, or was it ever a SCSI setup?

Hi,

I just formatted my computer, and before I did my cd drive names were (D:) and (E:), but after I formatted they changed to (M:) and (N:). Is there anyway I can change the names back to how they were and why does this happen? Please reply ASAP. Thank you so much!

Go to disk administrator (I use w2k), right click on cd-rom device and you will see option 'Change drive letter and path'. Choose it and change letter to desired one
Eugeny
