My cd re-wrtedable drive won't accept any cd's! Its a 4x4x8 re-writeable dive, I purchased 1x-4x cd-rw disk but it tells me that the cd's are high speed and can not be used. It gets to about 50% before it spits the cd out. I tried downloading the latest software from the HP werbsite but it dosen't help. Please tell me what I'm doing wrong.

P.s.
I'm running windows 98 se, 450Mhz pentium 3, 192 MB of Ram, DirectX 8, 32MB Video Ram.

Let us know the model number of your drive, and the brand and part number of the media you're trying to use.

Some help identifying your HP writer can be found at this link:

http://www.hp.com/cgi-bin/cposupport/get_doc.pl?SNI=hpsurestor11006&LC=information_storage&Tfile=lpg40231

I have experienced similar problems with my 8220e/8230e(?) cd-writer. It seems to deal well with media(mp3, avi) files, but when it comes to multiple data files/folders, larger files it stops recording and pops-up the error message about the media not being compatible. I have tried to use the two HP cd's which came with the cd-writer: CD-RW(C4438a) and CD-R(C4437-A); Imation CD-R(700MB/80min)- 17010420B. NOthing seems to work ....
Your help is really appreciated as the W32.Nimda virus just hit us and we want to backup all the data files before re-formating.
