topic 8220e CD-Writer Problems in Optical Jukeboxes and Drives

I just purchased a 8220e CD-Writer and I'm having problems with it. The Drivers and Software installed with no problems as far as I can tell. The problem is when I try to create a CD I keep getting an error saying the CD is dirty or that I'm using high-speed CD-RW disks. I've been using typical CD-R disks, even tried the one that came with the CD-Writer. Any suggestions? I'm using a system with a 800mhz AMD Athlon processor and 256 megs of RAM. Could the processor be a problem? I haven't activated the DMA option on my Hard Drive either yet. The documentation that came with the Writer said this option should be activated.

You could try this:
Make sure USB function is enabled in the BIOS.
Enable DMA for the hard drive.
Lower the 'read ahead' optimization & 'supplemental cache size', these options can be found in the system properties under the performance tab.
Disable config.sys & autoexc.bat if using Win98.
Download record Now,
Windows 98 & ME:
http://www.hp.com/cposupport/information_storage/software/chprn3en.exe.html
Windows 2000:
http://www.hp.com/cposupport/information_storage/software/ahprn3en.exe.html
Once the program is installed go into the program options and into the 'advanced tab' and disable the 'test before create'.
Disconnect all USB devices and try the CD-Writer on the other USB port if you have it.
Thank you for your the advice CdRWizard. Unfortunately, I still can't write to the drive. I've tried all your suggestions. I have 2 other USB devices attached to my computer and they work fine, so the BIOS should be setup. The odd part about this problem is the drive will let me copy information from it but not write information to it. Any more suggestions?
