Help needed for my drive that burns slow with 100 cpu usage

I have been trying to copy a dvd and burn it, same with coping an audio cd and burning the cd, and the computer is going to 100% computer usage and then it it burns at a max of 1.5. it takes almost an hour to read or to burn a dvd. The same goes for the cd. I have the hp 640x and my computer goes to 100 percent usuage only when i insert the dvd or cd into the drive. can anyone help? thanks

What process is 100%'ing the CPU whilst burning ?

Is it your writing software ? Which one is it ?

I've never had any problems with Nero personally, assuming you're not using that give it a go. www.nero.com

that is just it, i used nero, sonic, roxio and it is all the same, when i look at the applications running and close everything else, it is still at 100 percent, . when i open the program, it is fine, but when i start the copying or burning process, that is when it jumps to the 100 percent cpu usage.
