There shouldn't be anything different about operating online -vs- running a front panel test. The library has no concept of online and offline. If there is minor encoder damage maybe 10 loops just isn't enough for the problem to accumulate.

Can you pull a support ticket with Library and Tape Tools and post it here zipped? That should help.

You mention getting "many scsi bus errors". Any details on what you mean by that?

There is something strange going on with this jukebox. It is getting positioning errors so that the picker is not aligned correctly with the slot or drive. It jammed the disk so badly, it broke the picker. The error codes are 42h and various other errors calling the picker, media, tranlate, drive, etc...

Also, we are seeing many scsi bus errors.

We have changed the picker(s), translate and vertical motor assmblies, and upgraded the firmware.

Any suggestions?

You probably have a damaged encoder strip.

We replaced the picker and the tranlate assembly and got it to run 10 good passes of wellness and the translate/mechanical exerciser. It fails only online.
