topic DAT72 - Windows 2003 - Windows Backup error in StoreEver Tape Storage

We've just installed Windows 2003 on a ML350 G4 with an external DAT72 drive. Whenever we try and use MS backup to backup data at the point where we think all the data has been written we get an error indicating that there was an "invalid command" and there is possibly a media or tape drive error.

It seems to do this regardless of the amount of data - single file or entire system. We can't see any new drivers for the device. We've tried different tapes and they all perform in the same manner.

It feels like a driver/software issue.

Any ideas anyone ?

thanks.
