Hi Clive,

You can try following steps to verify the tape.

- Skip over the first image with mt command :

# mt -f /dev/rmt/0mn rew
# mt -f /dev/rmt/0mn fsf 1

- Verify the contents of the tar image:

# tar tvf /dev/rmt/0m

Please assign some points if you find this is useful. Thanks.

I am in difficulties restoring to an HP K380 server, running HP-UX 11.00.
We have many backup DATs made using the make_recovery procedure. We have used one of these backups during an earlier restore with no problems.
However, now we need to perform a restore again, but the procedure fails no matter which DAT backup tape we use.
I have changed the DAT drive out for another, but I still get exactly the same problem.
The HPUX mini-system installs OK and files are restored for about an hour before we get the following messages:

pax_iux : [offset 0g+2m+0k+576] : I/O error
pax_iux : var/opt/perf/datafiles/logglob : the archive file appears to be corrupt
ERROR : connot load OS archive (Recovery Archive)

As the DAT tapes must have been OK to have restored previously, and the HP DDS2 DAT drive has been changed is there anything else that could be causing this error ??

Hope someone can suggest something !
