Error 4027: Device timeout - Data

Hi,

I have a ML 350G5 with a HP DAT USB 160 TAPE DRIVE.Backup software HP data protector.

Everytime put a tape and try run backups I get this message "Error 4027: Device timeout - Data "

please need help

Dear friend
u can increase the value in glbal option file

#/etc/opt/omni/options/global
SmWaitForDevice

Try with increasing this variable value

it will fix the issue.

is it located in the registry

What OS platform is your ML 350GG? If windows, it will be in C:\program files\Omniback\Config\server\Options. If Unix, the path mentioned will be as posted above by Sajjad

Check this location where you have installed Data protector

C:\program files\Omniback\Config\server\Options

there's no folder called omniback in program
files..only HP

Search for the below on the server:-
: Folders like 'Config' ; 'server' ; 'Options' or
: Files like 'global'

The above should exist if you are using Data Protector. Check where its Data Protector Express instead of Data Protector.

I have same problem.
Not sure about all the suggestions as I can't find that variable to alter in my SBS 2003 system as well.
Some have the windows equivalent inorder to overcome this problem?

We have the same problem with Windows 2008 64 R2, HP Storagework DAT160 SAS and HP Data protector 5. Storagework and disks mirorred are connected on the same SAS controler card.

I found the solution for this matter, but i am not sure this is the proper way.

I just edited config/dpdevice.ini and increase the timeout default settings.

[class.scsi]
disableSecurityProtocol=Yes
timeoutImmediate=600000 ; immediate commands (30 sec)
timeoutCommand=600000 ; general i/o commands (1 min)
timeoutShortMove=600000 ; short move commands (10 min)
timeoutLongMove=1200000 ; long move commands (20 min)
timeoutLongErase=14400000 ; long erase commands (4 hours)
maxCommandRetry=10 ; number of times a command will be
; retried when a bus error is detected

It running successfully.
