Could we please have some more information about the tape drive and the backup application. ie is it a DAT8 DDS-2 tape drive or a Travan drive. Type of media would also be useful.&lt;BR /&gt;

Download the Tapediag.exe from the HP website to determine if the hardware is okay.  This will require you to use a tape and will erase all information on that tape. It will also test the tape.  I have ran into the same situation and I found out it was the tapes. &lt;BR /&gt;

      <description>The tape I am using is the TR-4 travan hp 4425. I tried using the diagnostic tool but I get the unrecoverable error in my original response. I need to find the driver EPATAP9X.MPD which HP says is on the shuttletech site and it isn't there.</description>
