tape keeps ejecting

When i put a tape in my drive, it ejects itself in less than a min. I am using Backup Exec, and there are no errors in the software. Is this a hardware issue.

Rick, A little more information if you please. what kind of tape drive, tapes,any lights on? New drive? worked before?

HP SureStore DAT 40i. The Drive worked fine for over a month. I don't have info on the tapes, but like i said they did work in the past.

hi

i also had the same problem.

try cleaning the dlt with a cleaning tape.

then try using a brand new tape and see.
if it works fine then try putting the tape if it again ejects the tape may be faulty.

or if the brand new tape also ejects the dlt drive may have problem, so try using hp diagnoses tools or u may have to get the dlt drive replaced..

Rick,
Reset the program. My server w\8.6 version does that when looking for a specific tape and can not find it. The only way to clear it is to reset the program. The newer version (9.x) does not do this.
Which version are you on?
Also, if resetting does not work, then clean the unit like mentioned above.
