I'm unable to make NTbackup work on SBS 2003 with a HP DAT 72x6 external autoloader.

Are there any good directions out there on how to make this configuration work?

Well, to be completely honest, I'm not sure how to configure NTbackup so that it writes to different tapes?

I know, I'm a rookie with autoloaders, so I'm sure most of my problems are related to me not configuring the software correctly.

you still didn't mention if you had LUN support enabled. You need this for the autoloader to work. As you computer boots, look for the instruction to access the SCSI BIOS. For adaptec it is ctrl a. Then access the scsi id of your drive and set LUN support to enabled

Okay, so I turned on the LUN support in the BIOS. Seems to work a little better now.

However, I still have questions about how to configure the backup job to write to different cartridges.
Basically, Iâ m really confused about the whole â librariesâ thing.

So that would mean that NTbackup is unable to automatically change cartridges, correct?

NTBackup do not support libraries, but support autoloaders.
Autoloaders can be used in stacker mode vs random mode of the libraries.
this mean that command should just be load and not load tape number 2 for example.
NTBackup can issue this "load" command, autoloader will each time load next tape.
Then you need to program the backup tool to load every day next cartridge.
