Justin, not exactly sure but if I were guessing I would say it's because the server uses a dual channel controller and since you don't want the tape drive on the same channel as the hard drives, this may be the bay that connects to the second channel.

hi all

i just brought a HP 36/72 DDS-5 Hot Plug Tape Drive for my ML 370 g2 server.

and i'm reading the manual and it said the following

""HP ProLiant ML370 servers only. Horizontal orientation: install the first tape in the third drive slot from the left. Tower orientation: install the first tape in the third drive slot from the bottom""

does anyone know why this is? coz i already have a hard drive in that slot, and i was going to install it into slot 4&5... (can i still do that?)

thanks for ur time

cheers
