Hi Volkmar,

Yes, after the first set of tapes stopped working (ejecting), i ran the cleaning tape, it seemed to work successfully, but the tapes continued to eject after inserting them. I purchased a second set of tapes and they worked for a couple of weeks, but now these are ejecting after about 20-30 seconds.

Regards,
John

Every time I put a tape in my drive, it spins about for about 30 seconds and then ejects it. This is happening with every tape I insert.

It worked fine for about a month and then it started doing this. I replaced all the tapes and these new tapes worked again for about a month and now it is doing it again.

I am only backing up about 15Gb of data. Has anyone run into this before?

Hi,

sorry, can't help more - maybe anybody else?

Seems like a drive replacement should be done. Do you have support for this tape drive?
Do you have L&TT? Take a look at http://www.hp.com/support/lttfaq for a Windows FAQ.

HTH
Volkmar
Hi,

Can you tell us what's the software you're using.
When the tape is ejected, are you getting any kind of message from the backup software?

Another thing I'd like to know is, does the tape drive eject the tape when there's not any job running?

If it does, try to disconnect the cable SCSI/USB and check if it will do the same thing.
