Hey Guys,

Any news if VxVM will still be bundled with future releases of HP-UX 11i? And if VxVM 4.0 will be bundled with the OS? IMHO, HP has done a tremendously fine job integrating VxVM with HP-UX.

Hi,

is there a secure path release for sun solaris which supports VxVM 4.0 ?

thanks
There should not be any interdependency between SecurPath and VxVM (any version). Once SecurePath kicks in.. a LUN's paths is transparent to VxVM .. it will simply treat the LUN as any simple disk or JBOD LUN.

VxVM 4 on Solaris with EVA and SecurePath is supported, however only without DMP enabled!

Cheers
Peter

Yep.

Peter... Is'nt DMP an automatic thingy anyway? That is if the LUNS PATHS are "DMP" compliant that DMP kicks in?
No, DMP and EVA/SecurePath do not cooperate!
Also see the EVA Solaris release notes on page 8 http://h200006.www2.hp.com/bc/docs/support/SupportManual/c00211636/c00211636.pdf

Cheers
Peter

Peter,

You misunderstood me... that is what I meant.. since SecurePath already takes care of pathing and load balancing - DMP should not kick in as DMP is intelligent enough if it senses a DMP compliant configuration..
after VM 3.1.1 you can't totally disable DMP, you have to exclude some controllers of DMP control.

The fact is that the last release of SP 3.0D for SUN is from July, however, the last eva VCS release which support VM 4 is from August... So the release notes of SP 3.0D tells about VM 3.2 and VM 3.5...

You are right,

1. You have to exclude the EVA from DMP.

2. Secure Path 3.0D is the current version and does not mention VxVM 4.
I can assure you that the HP internal streams documents state it as supported!

Cheers
Peter
