Do you want to install the software on another host or do you like to change the hostname and address of your current server?

Good solution for both:

get the current version
uninstall commandview sdm
install the current version (1.09.02)

http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/DriverDownload.jsp?prodNameId=30591〈=en&cc=us&taskId=135&prodClassId=-1&prodTypeId=18964&prodSeriesId=64112

Torsten is correct, it is far easier to uninstall & then install the latest version than to attempt to get commandview working after changing an IP or hostname.

If you changed the hostname/address, check

/etc/opt/sanmgr/hostagent/config/commIpAddr.txt

but consider to upgrade to the newer version anyway.

make sure you run armdiscover before trying anything. If you don't get anything from that, then try to do:
# HA_Dial_Stop
move /var/opt/sanmgr/commandview/server/data/DeviceDBFile
to /var/opt/sanmgr/commandview/server/data/DeviceDBFile.old
HA_Dial_Start
# armdiscover

the HA commands are located in
/opt/sanmgr/commandview/client/sbin/
in case it is not in the path.

thanks for your ongoing help

but having tried everything you have suggested, including a new install i seem to to think that the problem is with some kind of Windows configuration, not UNIX?
