Hi Lee,

You cannot daisy chain LTO drives, they require a dedicated SCSI. You will need another interface on your proliant or upgrade the LTO 460 to an LTO 960 which will give you more capacity (approx double)

LTO 460 = 400GB
LTO 920/960 = 800GB

All tape capacities assume 2:1 compression

Mike.

Hi,

I have a HP Storageworks Rack Mount Kit which currently has a single HP Ultrium 460 drive connected into the first chassis slot. The rack mount kit (RMK) is then connected into an HP DL 380 server on which we use Arcserve to backup.

The current drive is reaching it's capacity and so we would like to add another drive of the same type into the RMK. My problem is that inside the RMK it is designed to have the two drives running off seperate SCSI cables. As our server only has a single external SCSI connector this would mean us using another server to backup which I don't want to do.

Ideally I would like to daisy chain the tape drives off the same cable but the current cable in the RMK does not have sufficient length.

Does anyone else have any better suggestions for us being able to use a single server to backup from multiple tape drives (not in parallel).

Thanks

Lee
