Running Server 2003 and need to disable a port on a dual channel 8003a HBA. Does anyone know how to do this? I can't associate the unplugged one from the active one in Device Manager.

Brian

If Windows is installed with MPIO then directly you can diable the SAN Switch port on which the second HBA port is connected.

Infact you can directly remove the cable also, as the MPIO manager will take care of the failover of the part. For more precaution you can do this on less IO period.

Take a look at the hardware addresses in the device manager?

The lower one should be port 1 (or 0)

Use SANSurfer or HBAnywhere (depending upon your card) to see which port has devices. The one with the lower WWID would be the first port on the card... usually the top port (though it should be labeled).

Steven
