Hello !

I would recommed to upgrade the firmware and controller SCSI controller BIOS. The latest BIOS is 2.57.2 and is available at http://www.hp.com/cposupport/information_storage/software/2.57_2940uw.exe.html

The DLT1 is a LVD device and your controller is a Single Ended controller so your bus will run in SE mode with it's limitations in maximum cable length and signalling speed (40MB/sec max)

It would be good to know what sort of problems you have. There is an excellent troubleshootingtool available from hp at http://www.hp.com/cposupport/information_storage/software/ltt_27_eng.exe.html that might help you determine where the problems is coming from.

Best regards,

Cal.

Do I need the latest firmware or bios version on the Adaptec 2940UW Controller? What about NT driver or Servicepacks? Any suggestions?

I assume it's nearly always a good idea to get the latest firmware/BIOS for your Host Adapter. Since you don't mention the product information for your tape drive, I can't tell you if the drivers are embedded in NT4 or not (actually you don't specify the NT version you are running, either). Are you actually having a problem or just doing pre-install research? Give us some data!

Hi Roger,
I have a problem with the Backup Software OmniBack and I posted a message to the OpenView Application Forum. One reply mentioned the firmware, therefore I am trying to exclude the Hardware Issue.
I know there are Firmware-, BIOS- ... updates available, but what is really essential (you know, never touch a running system)?

Here is the System Configuration

HP Netserver LH3 Bios 4.06.31 (current 4.06.43)

SCSI HBA 2940UW Bios v1.32 (current 1.34.3
NT 4.0 SP5 (SP6a?)
AHA2940 NT Driver v2.10 (current ?)

(HP)DLT1i C7484A
I have downloaded firmware V27, but not yet upgraded with Tapetools because there is no Severity Info- or textfile included.
