topic Disk Firmware Update + Zero Memory Controller = Trouble in General

I have Previously updated two other systems, albeit with P410 Controllers with 512 MB Battery backed cache, without a single disk falling off the array. However, I have recently been trying to update/downgrade/rewrite firmware on MB1000FBZPL Drives and have consistely had at least one drive fall off the array. A couple times my entire Array was destroyed. I also tried updating hard drives that were only 72GB and they were fine.

The only way to update the MB1000FBZPL's were to remove enough drives that the controller marked the Array as disabled.

All these updates were done on a USB Key version of the Smart Firmare update dvd.

Has anybody else had good luck with Zero memory controllers? I will later on attempt to perform the update on a storage controller with Memory.
