Hello,

I have Dl380 Gen 9 server I want to patch.

I downloaded latest SPP 2020.03 and when I run it it shows me a message: Warning - The selected Firmware Baseline is not supported for the given server. It is not recommended to continue with the updates using this baseline. Please select a different supported baseline for this server.
To proceed with the updates using this baseline at your own risk, select Ignore Warnings option.

On this link I found out that there is diferent SPP for Gen8 servers but mine is Gen9

https://community.hpe.com/t5/proliant-servers-ml-dl-sl/proliant-service-pack-error/td-p/7061201#.XtjbiudS-Uk

I read somewhere that Gen 9 and Gen 10 servers use same SPP version but there might be some changes I don`t know about.

Can you help me?

BR

Since end of 2019 there are 2 versions.

One for Gen10 only:

https://techlibrary.hpe.com/us/en/enterprise/servers/products/service_pack/spp/index.aspx

one for Gen9 and Gen10:

https://techlibrary.hpe.com/us/en/enterprise/servers/products/service_pack/spp/index.aspx?version=2020.03.0

In the past there was a contract required to donwload the SPP, this is no longer valid for Gen10.

Hence you need a contract for Gen9, but only a login passport for Gen10.

The only difference is the Gen10 only has no Gen9 BIOS updates.

Thank you Tech_Aniket you are a saver.

However, since there is diference i think it would have been much clearer if they had just called them say:

"Gen10 Service Pack for ProLiant 2020.03.0" and

"Gen9 Service Pack for ProLiant 2020.03.0"

best regards

Hence you need a contract for Gen9, but only a login passport for Gen10.

To be honest I was able to download the SPP for Gen9 (and the 7 GBytes file had filename equal to P26940_001_spp-2020.03.0-SPP2020030.2020_0319.22.iso) without having any particular active contract...don't ask me how I was able because I really don't know/remember (If I remember correctly...after reading your post...I tried to download the SPP for Gen10 and I was able to download it...then I tried to found the SPP for Gen9 and, with my surprise, I was able to download it too without any issue). Was mine a "lucky strike"?

For all who need it:

Go to https://support.hpe.com/hpesc/public/docDisplay?docLocale=en_US&docId=c04111554 -> Download

and select what you need.

For Gen9/Gen10 SPP you need a contract, for Gen10 only you don't need a contract.
