Hello Engineers,

I have a ProLiant DL360p Gen8 that is showing two memory degraded errors " Present, Unused" and in the description i had this "POST Error: 207-Memory initialization error on Processor 1 Socket 4. The operating system may not have access to all of the memory installed in the system."

Kindly advise on how to overcome this my reserch shows that re-sitting the DIMM won't help.

Cecilio Kisitu

Possible causes of this error:

The DIMM is not seated properly or is faulty
DIMM gold contacts or pins are dirty
DIMM or DIMM slot issue.

The following steps should help to fix the “Initialization Error “ and restore system functionality
1. Be sure that the DIMMs meet the server requirements and are installed as required by the server.
Some servers might require that memory channels are populated fully or that all memory within a memory channel is of the same size, type, and speed.
2. Check any server LEDs that correspond to memory slots.
3. Update the system ROM to the latest version.
4. Clean DIMM gold contacts or pins.
5. Reseat the DIMM.
6. Swap the problematic DIMM with the working DIMM of another processor, to isolate an issue with the DIMM or DIMM slot or memory controller on the processor.
7. Isolate and minimize the memory configuration.
8. Replace the DIMM if the issue is isolated with a particular DIMM.
