topic DL380 Gen 10 Motherboard Swap (BIOS and iLO defaults issues) in Servers - General

Details:

DL380 Gen 10 needed board swap. Aquired board had no information regarding its factory default iLO password therefore I've changed it manually to the one located on the sticker on the chassis. Sounds good. I also changed the motherboard serial number and product-ID to the one on the chassis.

Great. Everything works. I can log into iLO with the password that I manually set (The one located on the chassis). The serial number and product ID now matches the sticker on the chassis. Perfect.

The issue I run into now is that when I factory default the BIOS and iLO. Those settings just vanish. My question is as follows.

In the event of a motherboard replacement, is there a way to truly change the "factory defaults" (iLO password, serial number, product-ID etc) of the replacement motherboard to match the sticker on the chassis. Or, do you just have to manually set all of the information from the chassis sticker onto the replacement board everytime you want to "factory defualt" BIOS and iLO settings?

Thank you

Serial number, Product number and original default iLO password needs to be set each time the system board is replaced/defaulted. It is also important to keep a copy of your iLO Advance Licence if you have one. It can easily be backed up using the following:-

https://ilo-address/xmldata?item=CpqKey

Example: https://10.10.216.215/xmldata?item=CpqKey (Where 10.10.216.215 is the iLO IP Address of the server)

You can then restore it after the system board has been replaced.
