Actually, the Web Console external box is a simple RS-232 serial terminal-to-web converter so it will work on any opsystem that uses a serial console. You will need an appropriate cable to match Tx/Rx signals.

I stand corrected. What about the java customization thats build into the device?

The Java code is used for terminal emulation so like most Java code in a web page, it works as long as the browser is compatible. The Web Console can select either HP emulation or a dumb VT100. The Web Console should not be used for remote (ie, Internet) management but just within a company. For remote management, an SSH terminal server is needed.

Just be careful when you are connecting. Sun can finicky when you connect/unconnect a serial connection :).
