Hello

I need to replace a faulty HPE Smart Array P440ar controller on DL 370 gen 9 server

Need to know the steps which i need to go through to get the system back to normal operation from the current drives

Power Down and Prepare:

Power down the server completely and disconnect the power cables.
Remove the access panel.

Remove the Existing Controller:

Locate the Smart Array P440ar controller, typically in a PCIe slot.
Disconnect any cables connected to the controller.
Loosen the screws securing the controller to the server.
Carefully lift the controller out of the PCIe slot using the flap or handle provided.

Install the New Controller:

Align the new Smart Array P440ar controller with the PCIe slot.

Update Firmware (If Needed):

I have tried to change it, but when powering up the server it is giving that there is no bootable device found

Steps to Follow:

Power Down the Server
Safely shut down the server and disconnect it from power.
Document Current Configuration
If possible, take screenshots or note down the current array configuration via the HPE Smart Storage Administrator (SSA) or iLO.
Replace the Controller
Physically replace the faulty P440ar controller with the new one.
Boot into SSA or BIOS
On first boot, enter the Smart Storage Administrator (F10 or F5 depending on your system) to check if the new controller detects the existing drives and array.
Check for Automatic Import
HPE controllers typically store array configuration metadata on the drives. The new controller should prompt you to import the existing configuration. Accept the import to restore your RAID setup.
