Hello @MrMagicTX,

Use Speed-Specific Transceivers That Match the Switch Port Speed.
When connecting to a 10G switch port, use only 10G SFP+ transceivers on your NIC. When connecting to a 25G switch port, use 25G SFP28 transceivers. Mixing a 25G module on a 10G port is generally unsupported and can cause link failures.

Force Speed and Duplex on NIC and Switch Port
Some NICs and switches allow forcing speed to 10G on the port (disabling autonegotiation). However, forcing speed may not work with a 25G SFP28 module if the module doesn’t support 10G signaling. You tried forcing 10G speed on the NIC BIOS, but the module still tries 25G signaling, causing failure.

Firmware/Driver Updates.
Check for updated NIC firmware and drivers that might improve autonegotiation or speed fallback support. Some vendors add support for speed fallback and autonegotiation in later firmware versions.

Use SFP+ Modules on PCIe NIC for 10G Links.
If the NIC supports it, use 10G SFP+ modules on the PCIe NIC ports when connecting to 10G switches. The NIC may have backward compatibility to run 10G SFP+ modules even if the port is rated for 25G.

Separate NIC Ports by Speed.
Use one PCIe NIC port exclusively with 25G transceivers for 25G uplinks. Use the other PCIe NIC port with 10G transceivers for 10G uplinks.

Use Media Converters or Breakout Cables.
Though more complex, you could use media converters that translate 25G to 10G Or consider using breakout cables that separate 25G into multiple 10G lanes if supported by hardware.

Regards,
Azr_geek

Hello,

I removed 2x GEN9 Proliants from OneView before trying to add servers that replaced those two. I used the same IPs and names for new GEN12 Proliants. I upgraded OneView to v 10 as my old one was not recognizing iLO 7 but now I cannot force add those 2 to OneView. In older OneView, force option showed up after failed attempt this time nothing shows up and I cannot add those servers? Any idea how to force ADD servers to new OneView?

Thank you.

Hi @MrMagicTX

1. Fully purge the old server entries in OneView using “Force Remove”.

2. On the new GEN12 servers make sure iLO7 is reachable and supported by OneView v10.

3. When adding the server in OneView, ensure you select “Managed” or “Monitored” and the “Force add server hardware” checkbox appears.

4. If the force add box does not show, consider using a unique IP/name to avoid inventory conflict.

5. Once added, verify that the servers show up in inventory and are properly monitored/managed.

Thanks & Regards,

Mamatha
