I was logged into the console as root and my pc had issues. Now, when I access the webconsole (even as root), I only have view only. Root (my other session) has locked everyone else out from write access. How can I reset this.

If you power down the webconsole and then power it back up with the power/top button pressed down it will reset the box to factory defaults.

Then you'll need to connect to it with a browser and reconfigure it.

we don't have a root user on our consoles, because it causes confusion about "which" root password to use.

Our operators and admins have accounts in their own name. It helps us out a bit.

SEP

Can't you login from another PC/workstation 'su - root' and terminate the session?
hi,

in the WebConsole you should be able to kick the other session and "take" the console.

regards,
Thierry.

I powered it off but haven't done the reset with power off. When I go into the webconsole I see three flashes of black area and when I use another program to get into it, I see three telnetd processes running. I tried doing the break, but it only registers the one user and it appears underlined which would indicate that I have control. I've reset from the console screen. Thanks for your suggestions. I think it's time for me to contact the response center.
