serial port console question

i'm able to connect to my console and see the console login screen - but able to type anything there..what could be the reason

Are there three dongles there? Try the other ones.

If there isn't, you need to figure out the correct pin connection.

no errors - but could not type anything at the console - once i kill the console session form the system - the console login prompt will be there - but could not type..anything

What type of terminal are you using?

My psychic powers are too weak to tell me
what "my console" is, or to what it's
connected, or how.

Does "able" in "able to type anything there"
really mean "unable"? Does that mean that
you hit keys, but you don't see your
characters echoed back? Or was your keyboard
stolen? Or what?

You've checked the cable? You've checked
your terminal (emulator?) (and cable) on some
other device/system?

Perhaps it would help if you described your
equipment in more detail. (More than none,
that is.)

Yes, you can play around for it. But I think mostly is the baud rate need to be adjusted. Try 9600 first.

Wow. A real VT100? My oldest terminal is a
VT220, and that was made "19-OCT-84". I
haven't seen a working VT100 in years.

_Whose_ "tty services"? What "issue"? You
don't seem to know where the problem is yet.

The problem Description is here:

Can connect to the console via serial port -able to see console messages in there.but could not type anything there - for example Ctrl B should take us to MP - which is not as we could not type anything -

So now tell me the solution

Yes, but I was looking for a _useful_ problem
description. "I can't do something" is not
a useful problem description. It does not
say what you did, and it does not say what
happened when you did it.

"[...] could not type anything there [...]"
could mean almost anything, which is why I
tried this guess: "Does that mean that you
hit keys, but you don't see your characters
echoed back?". But I never got an answer to
that question (or others).

I'm glad that you got it working (whatever
