Hello

we have a HP UPS R5500 XR with a management card (AF401A).

The UPS is running firmware 2.02 and we want to upgrade it to 2.04 (invertor problems).

When I connect my computer to the management card console (UTP -> DB9) and open a session with Hyperterminal I can clearly communicate with the management card.

When I download the firmware update from HP and adjust the batch file to use the correct baud rate, it cannot perform the upgrade.

Has anyone ever succeeded in this upgrade? (I have succeeded on models with older management cards.)

Regards,

Wout Verschatse

Hello,

If you try to flash the UPS (not the HP Management Module) then set the card to "pass-through" mode (reset, wait for a prompt then hit any key within 5 sec to go to the service menu). This allows your server's serial port communicate directly to the UPS.

Regards,

Brian
