problem with UPS

I can't connect my UPS to rs232 port of my server;
so I need an alternative method to signal the AC power failure.
What can I do?

What U mean by "I can't connect|"? Physically U are not able to connect, or after connecting physically U are not able to communicate??? Please clarify...

I haven't a free rs232 port on my ups.
The two rs232 port of my ups are connected to a windows server and to an as400.
After a signal from ups the ups daemon of windows can make some actions like send e-mail or execute a file.
I need a trick that use this actions to perform a shutdown when necessary.
