Hi Sivakumar,

What NAS product are you using? Is it a W2K OS based NAS product or a WSS2003 OS NAS server?

Either way, I do not think the "Distributed Transaction Coordinator" service not being able to start is the issue. I disabled this service on both a WSS2003 NAS server as well as a W2k NAS server and the webUI still loads without issue.

There could be several issues causing the WebUI not to load.

1) Did the WebUi ever work before or it has never worked? If it has worked before but not now, do you recall installing any applications, patches, security fixes, etc between the time it did work and now?

2) Make sure you are using https and port 3202. For example: https://server:3202

3) Go into Add/Remove programs and make sure that the application "Server Appliance Kit" is installed. This is the application that contains support for the WebUI interface.

4) Make sure the services "HTTP SSL" and "World Wide Web Publishing Service" are started and running.

If none of this helps, can you provide some more details like any event errors you see or screenshots?

Thanks,
Monty

Hi Monty,

What NAS product are you using? Is it a W2K OS based NAS product or a WSS2003 OS NAS server?

-Its a WSS2003 NAS server. The model is the Nas B2000s.

1) Did the WebUi ever work before or it has never worked? If it has worked before but not now, do you recall installing any applications, patches, security fixes, etc between the time it did work and now?

-The WebUI has worked before. After applying the service pack3 it did work. Then after few days later it didnt work anymore. A chkdsk /f was done on the OS the previous day. Reboot and an error message appears at the logon screen saying one of the service or driver could not start.

2) Make sure you are using https and port 3202. For example: https://server:3202

-Yup, using https and port 3202.

3) Go into Add/Remove programs and make sure that the application "Server Appliance Kit" is installed. This is the application that contains support for the WebUI interface.

- Checked, Server Appliance Kit is installed.

4) Make sure the services "HTTP SSL" and "World Wide Web Publishing Service" are started and running.

- Checked, Services HTTP SSL and World Wide Web Publishing Service are running

5) Any Event view errors ?
-The Distributed Transaction Coordinator service failed to start due to the following error:
The service did not respond to the start or control request in a timely fashion.

Regards,
Siva

Sivakumar,

Check if the services "web element manager" and "windows management instrumentation" are running.

Also , did you change server administration settings ? [ Like administration port or ip address etc ? ]

-Sripathi
