We are not having a problem getting the modified config changed and then saved. The problem exists when we run a cfgenable command and the defined configuration never updates the effective config. I am able to see the zone addition in my defined configuration when I run the cfgshow command.

We have one Brocade SAN Director 2/128 split into 2 fabrics with 2 Brocade 2/32 edge switches connected to it. Each switch is running firmware 4.4.0b. We are unable to create a new zone in our configuration. We are able to make changes to our current zones; however new zones show up in the defined config but never get implemented into the effective config. Rebooting the switches did not help. Has anyone else seen this behavior or know of a fix.

Jason:

What are you adding to the zone when you create it? Usually, the process follows as such...

1. Create new Alaises for new hosts or devices.

2. Create new zones inserting the new alaises (or existing ones) into the zone.

3. Insert the new zones into the configuration.

4. Save and Enable the Configuration.

Can you attach some screenshots or an admin report of the switch?

Steven

Hi,

Once you have created a zone, you would need to do the following:

1) In 'Zone Administration', go to 'Config' tab.
2) Select the zone you have created, and click on 'Add Member'
3) Now Click on 'Actions' --> 'Enable Config'

Once the config is enabled successfully, you should be able to see the new zone.

Regards

Hi

I have had this same problem and fixed it.

Creating a new zone and then analysing the config shows that the member is outside of the configuration. It wasn't implementing any new zones as you describe. I had a host that I wanted to remove from a zone and add it to a new zone with the EVA.

I am using a 2/16EV with 4.40b firmware.

I'm not sure that you have the exact same menu's - I am guessing you would being brocade. Any how this is what I did:

- Did an analyse config - this showed a host not zoned. Noted this WWN.
- In the Zone Administration window, went to the top menu - Tools, then Add-Unzoned devices.
Stepped through the wizard so I could add an alias and the zone I wanted to create.
- Went back and set the correct WWN of the host as it wasn't exactly correct.
- Added the members I wanted to my new zone.
- Analysed config, OK. Through the wizard it took in my new zone. Saved Config and applied.

Its not flash but it got the zone created :)

Hope it helps

Craig
