Was your configuration working, then quit?

If not Check that your storage is presented to the correct wwns, that you chose the correct OS on the eva, that you have links on your switch and hbas, make sure you have single initiator zones, that your server is correctly zoned in the macdata switch, that your hba drivers, and disk drivers are loaded on the OS too and up to date. Also make sure you have securepath loaded too for a EVA5000, because this EVA has an active passive controller.

Hi,

- Do you use the EVA as Boot disk ?
- Is Secure Path installed ?

I have tried this, using SP 3.0E but could not get it work. Without SP installed, booting was not any problem.

So, what I found was:

Booting HP-UX11iV1 from EVA with SP 3.0D or 3.0E is supported from HP but don't work.

Booting HP-UX11iV1 from EVA without SP (single path) is not supported from HP but works.

Guys! Thanks for replying quickly.

I've just discovered that my EVA is on a FW level that prevents me from booting from it. So now it's a whole new ballgame.

anyway, appreciate your views. And for record, my problem was that an Ignite recovery archive was copied over to the EVA, but it failed when I tried to boot from it.

cheers,
lars c

While you are comparing firmware revisions, its a good idea to check your RP as well I think. A few weeks ago I had an RX that didn't like a fibre channel boot and I had to update the adapter. The operating system (OpenVMS) could access the storage when I booted it from DVD, though.
