Yes, I have seen failures or apparently outdated data from time to time. On the SMA, a restart of the service via the web interface or a complete system reboot usually fixed it. I never did any 'precautionary' reboots.

Sometimes it is necessary to give the system a little time ;-)
as a HP support person once said: "no power clicking"

We have an EVA 5K SAN & we use cloneing exclusively every day. We have had some failures at creating our clones where we have had to either reboot our SMA or restart the Command View service on our SMA.

My questions are;

1) Any one out there that has had problems with some of the services where they had to reboot their SMA, or restart their Command View service?

2) What did you do to resolve the issue in #1? Do you have a NT scheduled task to restart the server or the service, or what other means did you go by to resolve the corrupt service?

Thx in advance,
Andy

As an workaround, you can create a sheduled task that runs net stop and net start of the command view service.

Anybody out there that has taken any precautionary measures such as using the NT scheduled task to restart the Command View services on their SMA?

Thx for your input.

Hi,

just be sure¨not to restart services, while some automatic sssu task is processed.
I'm doing automatic NT scheduled restart of CV services for XP array and everything works fine.
On EVA I've experienced strange behavior only when two sssu tasks or users worked concurently.

Mike

Anyone else out there with Command View service issues on their EVA?

We really had issues with SSSU when we would do a specific show lun on any lun that was already being deleted, or do a show lun on a lun within a disk group where a lun was being deleted (reguardless of whether the lun was active, being deleted, or not present).

I appreciate the comments that I have received thus far.

Thx

I have never bothered to watch a virtual disk deletion with SSSU, but when I was looking after an error in the past it was always SSSU which gave a better view of reality than CV-EVA.
We do lots of SSSU LUN unpresents and snapshot deletions every day (admittedly not snapclone/vdisk family deletions), and don't normally have to restart nsa services.

All the HP support people I've ever talked to about this, and all the stuff I've ever read recommend not to run multiple concurrent CV/EVA sessions, and that includes SSSU. Kind of a pain, but better than the pain of ignoring this advice!
