I have tested today the latest WEBES (v4.4.3)with CV4.1.2 on a Windows 2003 server (no SMA) and used the Serial Number of the EVA as "Service Obligation"
it worked fine sending local email notifcation for the HSV.

NB: no OSEM and no ISEE were installed
since our aim was local email notification.

I wonder if using the S/N as service obligation is OK permanently..

Regards,
Farid

That never worked for me also. Until I installed WEBES (in my SMA) and configured SMTP notification (desta smtp on).

Oh my, notification settings on the SMA is even more painful than messing with WEBES. I strongly recommend that you check if you are eligible for an ISEE setup so that HP is directly being notified. The engineer can set up a CC: to your mailbox.

Also, we use SSSU to get the status of the eva in a script (Unix).

If operatioinal state different from good:

Send a mail warning about some problem with the EVA.

Operational_State : Initialized - Good
I have it working, however it is difficult to setup. I was given a hard copy of a procedure for configuring the SMA to send the notifications. There are parameters on each EVA and the SMA which all need to be properly configured. The opposite side is to many emails as I once generated about 200,000 per hour for several hours on an event which couold not be written to the event log because it was full, so it generated another event till I shut the thing off. Took hours to clear up. Have you FE perform the con, or best yet is do ISEE. ISEE is free. I have it and it works real good most of the time.

Be aware that the ISEE/WEBES/OSEM package will NOT notify you of "warning" type events from the EVA. E.g. Low Disk Thresholds. HP wants to be notified only for "red" errors. There may be a way to config WEBES to read the Windows event log to get this info forwarded to your email address so ask your FE. Another way is to set Event Notification under Command View to forward events to an SNMP server in your enterprise.

The SMA Notification does work but is a booger to setup - what were they thinking!@#@

I have attached a doc that should help.

Hi All,

In case Command View is installed on a gneral purpose server, Is there a simple way to send local email notification for the EVA ?

I have successfully tested OSEM to send email notification by configuring Insight Agent to send SNMP trap to the OSEM server

but for Command View it seems WEBES has to sit in between, all I need is a simple way to get local email notification without going through WEBES/OSEM/ISEE/remote
notification to hp.

SAM3.2 use to be a wonderful package unfortunately it is discontinued

Your feedback is appreciated.

Farid
Go to the users section of the SMA. Change the
email address (User/Contact Info maybe?) of the user currently getting mail to a distribution list of all the users you want to get mail to on HSV events. This is the easiest.

Other ways involve adding a new user and email address for each person and then adding each to the recipient list under the Notification tab.

Hope this helps.
