Hello.
I totally begginer in SANs but I have to start work with it.
I wondered (and tried to find/google it) if there is some kind of SAN emulator/simulator. Is it possible to check how it all work on a PC with Windows/Linux operating system?
Thanks for all answers.

SAN emulator? Basically a san is compossed by sanswitches/hubs, storage devices and hosts. If you want to know how to manage a san, you should read the san design guide about the restrictions and configuration rules.

Then, you need to learn about the specific products that you will use on your san, that's why I think that an emulator won't be useful (if any).

You could also read about zoning in the brocade switch documentation.

Generally I understand that most of knowledge I can get by reading.
The problem is fact that I have to do some researches with the SAN. As long as it is impossible for me to have access to the real SAN, I need to find some kind of simulator/emulator on which I can observe effects.
Thats why I'm searching this.

HP has some online seminars that you can take. I got a SAN emulator from one of the instructors after taking the Technical Online Seminar. Either that or call HP support and ask if they might have an emulator of some sort.

Andy
