Vince,
A) What I "thought" I was doing:

2 servers, online at the same time, to the same disk area. Server 1 fails, server 2 takes over ( Not advanced server license ).... 2 HBA's in each server to 2 seperate fibre switches, to 2 different I/O cards in the MSA1000, equals 1 nice redundant system....

B) What I hear you telling me:
Nice redundant system, sorry Windows doesnt play that way.... ( Which would then read: If server one fails, turn on the spare server that would have the same access as server one did.... )

That about cover it ?

Would Linux / unix / other be different ?
( Could I run SMB on a few Linux boxes ?

Thansk again....
coop
You cannot access the same LUN on 2 servers at the same time.

This is a Windows problem, not a problem with the disk array. It has to do with the implementation of the filesystem. Most host OSes have this problem - but there are a couple of "cluster filesystems" out there - notably, Tru64 unix's filesystem.

If you tell us what you want to achieve, perhaps we can make some suggestions for making it work.

Good luck,

Vince
